  5.      newspapers or made a living by writing.

  7.      But Pope peopled his Dunciad  with these very figures, for 
  8. his perceptions and criticisms were not personal or based on a 
  9. private point of view. Rather he was concerned with a total 
  10. change. It is significant that this change is not specified until 
  11. the fourth book of The Dunciad , which came out in 1742. It is 
  12. after introducing the famous classics master, Dr. Busby of 
  13. Westminster school, that we hear the ancient and especially 
  14. Ciceronian theme concerning the excellence of man (IV, ll. 147¬≠
  15. 50):
